I walked along a street last week with a railing in front of a bay window. One day I had had enough of getting swiped by soggy leaves and heaved the whole lot over the fence back into the garden. One house had a huge overhanging sort of ornamental ivy taking up half the narrow path to the station. To me it would be important to keep my hedge trimmed -) but so many are overgrown - even by a small amount. Most pavements in residential areas are already narrow enough so with branches and shrubs I have to use the road - even more so with covid. Home owners who don't cut their hedge flush with the pavement so consequently it narrows it down (in addition to the cars half on it). If I'd have realised it was going to be such foul weather I would have put a gameboy in my bag to see me through the lunch hour since I can't go for a walk in this downpour. It's pre-installed on my work computer, just something to distract me from my conference, but I will look out for that. It will only cost you £1.99 and will keep you going for ages. You might enjoy a game called Hexcells, which is similar to (but vastly better than) Minesweeper. Might not work, though, as I get the impression the only changes to Minesweeper are to keep the lights on rather the make it work properly with modern WinAPI.Īaahhhh, genius, I will see if "sound effects volume 0" in the settings is a setting that the app will actually obey.ĮDIT - so far so good, but the adverts are ignoring it. Not sure if it still works, but pressing F5 used to bring up a dialog in Minesweeper allowing you to turn sounds off. Having to mute the entire computer just because one app can't follow their own rules seems a bit cruddy to me. But no, every time it makes a new noise it creates a new process on the volume mixer, I muted the main game but the chimes for winning it are a new process so mute that, but the next game is a whole new set of sound processes, I have done ONE ROUND and there is already eight entries for minesweeper on the volume mixer It is impossible to keep it quiet - just thought I'd have a quick whack at it while on a dull conference skype, and opened up "volume mixer" and turned down the volume on Minesweeper, cushty I thought. And not just the nags to pay premium rates for it. Annoying me right now is Microsoft Minesweeper on Win10.
